“We’re always waiting for Taylor to tell us”

The “IF” star joked that Swift incorporated the names of his and Blake Lively’s children into her music when asked about her fourth child on the “Today” show

The name of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s fourth baby remains a secret!

When appearing on the Today Show on Monday, May 13th, the IF The actor poked fun at the newest member of the couple’s family when Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb asked about the child’s name.

“Taylor Swift keeps putting it in her lyrics!” Guthrie said, probably referring to Swift’s song “Betty” from the 14-time Grammy winner’s 2020 album folkloreincluding the names of his three older children.

After Guthrie asked Reynolds, 47, if the new baby’s name appears anywhere on Swift’s new album The “Tortured Poets” sectionhe joked: “We are always waiting for Taylor Tell us what the child’s name isand I say this: we are still waiting.”

The father of four continued to joke about 34-year-old Swift: “She’s a prolific writer – I mean, what are we doing here? And ‘lazy’ is not a word I would associate with Taylor.”

“Betty” is not only the name of Reynolds and Lively’s third child, Betty, 4½, but also that of her older sisters Ines, 7½, and James, 9. The couple announced they are expecting their fourth child in September 2022 and will welcome the newest addition in February 2023.

Reynolds previously said they kept the names of their girls in “Betty” secret until the song was finished, saying in a SiriusXM City hall Interview in August 2021: “We surprised them with this.”

“They didn’t know,” added the Deadpool and Wolverine Stern. “They had no idea.”

He continued to joke: “We don’t tell them anything. We’ve found that they are most compliant when you don’t give them access to outside information.”

While Reynolds and Lively, 36, have not revealed any details about their youngest child, Reynolds noted during a November 2022 interview on Today show that he and his wife will “never know” the sex of their children “until they are born.”

The following June, Reynolds mentioned her fourth child when announcing his new series Bedtime stories with Ryan on social media.

In the Instagram post, the father of four shared a video of himself preparing to read a book to a pair of animatronic sheep and a clip of himself relaxing on a rooftop.

In the caption, Reynolds wrote: “The idea for a show to help everyone fall asleep came about the same day I had my fourth child.”

IF will be in cinemas on Friday, May 17th.
