Former President Donald Trump claimed that black voters knew they were being “cheated by the Democrats” and announced that he would visit hair salons in the black community before November to learn about the two presidential candidates.

Trump responded to Fox News’ Lawrence Jones’ interviews with voters in Chicago barbershops during a “FOX & Friends” interview on Thursday.

“That’s what I’m going to do. I like this guy and I like these people,” Trump said. “They’re great people. These … people just want security. They don’t want much. He wants to run his barbershop.”

“These are hard-working people. They are strong, they are tough and they know they are being betrayed by the Democrats,” he continued.

Black voters in Chicago signal a shift toward the Republicans ahead of the Democratic Party Convention: “Much better for us as a nation”

“Fox & Friends” co-host Lawrence Jones spoke to black voters in a hair salon in Chicago to find out what the community thinks about Kamala Harris’ candidacy.

He noted that many voters are torn between voting for Harris or former President Trump.

“It’s uncertain,” one voter told Jones. “Some people like Kamala because she represents change and is different. Some people like Trump because they feel like he’s more business-oriented, so it’s just uncertain.”

Another voter urged his fellow voters to stop being “blindly loyal” to the Democratic Party.

“It’s really enlightening to hear that individual people are starting to change their political direction,” he said. “I think it’s time for us black people in general to raise our political IQ. Let’s stop being blindly loyal to a one-party system that doesn’t work for us.”

“If Republicans would reach out to these communities and really communicate, they would come to the barbershops and realize we speak the same language, but they don’t know how to communicate, so they’d rather not,” he continued.

Another resident echoed the frustration over Republicans’ inability to communicate effectively with the black community.

“Most black people are conservative,” said another voter. “If the Republican Party could just learn to communicate, and the reason they can’t communicate… They don’t understand us. But a lot of people are waking up right now, you see, and talking to their brothers and sisters at the store and… how many barber shops and beauty salons are there in the whole country?”

“This conversation is happening in virtually every hair salon,” Jones said.

Voters said inflation, cost of living and illegal immigration were at the top of their voting priorities.

“Blacks have it harder than any other demographic. We have the highest prison rate, the highest dropout rate, and the highest murder rate. What do we get out of it?” asked one voter.

Trump argued that concerns about crime and illegal immigration were not limited to a single location.

“If you went to a hairdresser in New York, in Los Angeles or any other place you want to talk about, you would experience the same thing, the same reaction,” he said.

“They’re really upset, and I saw the mothers on your show this morning before we went on. So sad. They’ve given up on life. They have the worst prosecutors. They’re going after people like me… They’re going after me for questioning the election and things like that. That’s nonsense. If you can’t question an election, we don’t have a country.”
