InfoRR, 4WNet and Padtec collaborate to connect the state of Amazonas with a new optical DWDM network

Brazilian network operator InfoRR has announced that it will expand its operations to the Brazilian state of Amazonas, with the construction of a new optical DWDM network connecting the capital of Roraima, Boa Vista, with the capital of Amazonas, Manaus. The project will be implemented in partnership with 4WNet Telecomunicações, a service provider in Roraima, and includes the delivery of a complete Padtec DWDM system with resources to monitor the physical condition of the fiber and automatically reconfigure the network to expand capacity.

The new network is almost 800 kilometers long and covers the capitals of Boa Vista and Manaus as well as six other municipalities in the states of Roraima and Amazonas. The investment-intensive project was named Projeto Rizolmar in honor of the founder of InfoRR.

To this end, InfoRR commissioned Padtec to implement a DWDM system with ROADM (reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer) on the LightPad i6400G platform, which provides an automatic mechanism to flexibly expand the capacity of networks without having to interrupt the service to perform the upgrade. The solution provided also includes dual TMD400G transponders with a capacity of 400 Gb/s, optical switches and OT (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) cards for continuous monitoring and rapid detection of faults in fiber optics along the entire route.

By combining the intelligence and automation resources of OT and ROADM in a complete DWDM solution, InfoRR now has a highly available and reliable network that enables the company to provide high-quality Internet services to its customers.

Ruandson Alves, Director, InfoRR

My father founded InfoRR in 2006, always looking for the cutting edge in telecommunications. Over the years, he expanded the company’s network coverage to the entire capital and other municipalities in the state, including villages and indigenous communities. From a small company with four employees, InfoRR has grown and now employs around 60 direct and indirect employees. Taking Roraima to another level of telecommunications has always been one of InfoRR’s main goals. This new network is part of the company’s expansion strategy and the partnership with Padtec is in line with our goal of expanding the market by offering quality internet services to all our customers.
