“They don’t pay attention to them”

PETERSBURG, Virginia – A dangerous problem lurks on a quaint, quiet and historic street in Petersburg.

Neighbors on Grove Avenue said their community has a problem with drivers ignoring stop signs.

“They don’t pay any attention to them,” said neighbor Donald Baker. “They run all three. The one there. The one down there. The one down on River Alley.”

Petersburg police said they will continue to conduct random traffic checks on Grove Avenue to deter speeders and red light violators.

“I think they should (also) have speed bumps at those stop signs,” Baker said. “That would slow them down, so they have to slow down to go over the bump.”
