MILWAUKEE – Supporters of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz gathered at Nō Studios in downtown Milwaukee to watch Harris appear at the Democratic National Convention.
“The magic of black girls. That’s what’s going through my mind,” said Milwaukee voter Tim Counce.
Tim and his wife Beth sat close to the big screen on Thursday evening to watch Harris’ speech.

“This is historic,” said Tim.
Although the election party took place in Milwaukee, Tim and Beth felt close to Harris and the DNC in Chicago.
“Who would have thought that an African-American woman would be nominated as President of the United States to save democracy,” Tim explained.
Beth tells me she has been waiting for this moment her whole life.
“History is being made. It’s wonderful. It’s telling every single woman and girl of color that they can do it,” Beth said.
Megan Lee of TMJ4 asked if the two were a passionate couple when it came to politics. Beth said, “Oh my God, yes, yes! We have all the TVs on in the house.”
Tim replied, “We have five TVs, they are all on.”
Many people at the watch party were passionate about the same issues, especially reproductive rights.
“I remember before Roe versus Wade, when I was a student at the University of Wisconsin and pregnant women couldn’t get abortions and had to raise money in the dorm for overseas flights,” said Elly Pick, a voter from Shorewood.
Elly and her friend Carrie want this to never happen again.

“It is long overdue to have a female president,” said Carrie Mihal.
