Lamar Jackson can laugh about it now.

But for a moment, the Baltimore Ravens quarterback’s participation in the Green Bay Packers’ cycling tradition almost ended in disaster.

As Jackson, who signed a then-record five-year contract worth $275 million last year, was on his way to Ray Nitschke Field for a joint practice with the Packers in Green Bay, he was enjoying his ride and high-fiving fans. But then Jackson briefly lost control of the bike before putting both hands on the handlebars.

When Ravens fans saw this, they probably held their breath.

Fortunately, Jackson was OK, he regained control and drove away. Disaster was averted.

Jackson then participated in the team’s joint practice with the Packers. The two teams will play their final preseason game at Lambeau Field on Saturday.

He then commented on X (formerly Twitter) and acknowledged the moment when a video of the incident, captured by Green Bay Press-Gazette Packers reporter Ryan Wood, went viral.

He used a series of funny faces and laughing emojis to describe his first bike ride in Green Bay.

The Packers’ bike tradition has been going on for 66 years and involves players – and sometimes coaches – riding bikes that their children bring to training camp from Lambeau Field to the practice field at Ray Nitschke Field.
