MIAMI DADE COUNTY, Florida. – Authorities have released video showing the moment a 60-year-old man allegedly followed a girl through a Home Depot in Miami-Dade.
The suspect, a registered sex offender, is said to have been waiting for the 10-year-old outside the store.
It happened on July 4 at a store at 19400 SW 106th Ave.
The suspect, Kevin Hurley, is behind bars and prosecutors are using the newly released video to pursue that charge.
In the video, Hurley can be seen approaching the young girl at the store’s currency exchange counter.
According to a police report, he said, “I love your Mickey ears,” referring to Mickey Mouse.
After checking, according to police, Hurley approached the girl again and told her that he thought she was beautiful.
Then, police say, the situation escalated further. He stayed in the store and kept an eye on the girl. Eventually, he went to his car and parked in front of the store for ten minutes.
As the girl comes out of the store accompanied by her mother, Hurley is seen following them down an aisle in the parking lot.
He parks near them until a man in a truck attacks him and he flees.
Hurley is now facing charges of stalking a minor. He will remain behind bars.
