Marques Houston presents the music video for “Cowgirl” ahead of the new album

With the visual for his new single “Cowgirl,” Marques Houston encourages his fans to follow his example, saddle up, and ride off into the sunset with their lover.

Of course, the music video, directed by Chris Stokes, plays a country western cowboy theme as he walks into a saloon seeking the attention of a special lady. As he begins to sing, Houston begins his first dance break. He looks like half of a You were served Kampf, the pop singer expresses his wishes in a courageous and precise way.

“Cowgirl” – one of Houston’s favorite songs from his upcoming album, The best and worst year ever– sounds like the more grown-up, sexier version of “Sex Wit You” with its interpolation of Bobby Brown’s “Rock Wit’cha.” When Houston decided to try Brown’s 1988 classic, he told VIBE, he knew it was the right thing to do. Plus, it’s one of his favorite songs by the New Edition bad boy.

He originally wanted to remake the song, but then decided to put his own spin on it. “We started writing and playing with the ideas (…) I’m a family man now, so I can’t be out there talking about ‘Sex Wit You’ anymore. You know what I mean? But I thought, ‘Married people have sex too.’ I (just) didn’t want to be too vulgar with it. I wanted it to still be tasteful (and decided) to do it in a way that everyone could enjoy this song.”

Since Houston released a teaser of his new single, fans have started a #CowgirlDanceChallenge as a nod to the triple threat, and it’s making the rounds on TikTok. The self-proclaimed Tubi King hasn’t revealed many details about his new album, but we can tell you that if you’re looking for a Naked Continuation, that could be it. The best and worst year ever includes the earlier releases “Last Drop” and “Admit It”.
