One of the scariest movies of the summer will soon be available to stream. Longlegs is a huge surprise hit that grossed over $100 million at the box office worldwide, making it the highest-grossing indie film of the year.
Beginning Friday, August 23 at 12:00 a.m. ET/Thursday, August 22 at 9:00 p.m. PT, “Longlegs” will be available digitally online in 4K Ultra HD for $24.99 on Prime Video, Apple TV, and other video-on-demand platforms.
Film distributor Neon has not yet announced a home video release date for Longlegs, but you can still pre-order the horror film on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD discs, with prices starting at $18 at Target and Amazon.
As for the film itself, diversity Chief film critic Peter Debruge praised the film for “hijacking” one’s subconscious. The film’s director “Perkins understands that jump scares are just one of the joys of a successful horror film,” he writes in his review. “Destabilizing audience expectations and relieving tension through unforeseen bursts of absurdity are equally important – both tactics he uses with expert precision.”
Directed by Osgood Perkins, Longlegs follows FBI agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe) as she is assigned to investigate a series of murders that leads her to an elusive serial killer named Longlegs (Nicolas Cage).
The film also stars Blair Underwood, Alicia Witt, Michelle Choi-Lee, Dakota Daulby, Lauren Acala, Kiernan Shipka, Maila Hosie, Jason William Day, Lisa Chandler, Ava Kelders, Rryla McIntosh, Carmel Amit and others.
