Police in Kent stop stolen BMW and arrest two people after a short chase in the city centre

Kent Patrol officers arrested two men in their twenties on Wednesday afternoon, August 21, 2024, after a brief pursuit of a stolen BMW in downtown Kent.

The incident began around 2:50 p.m. when officers were dispatched to the 300 block of 2nd Avenue South in response to reports of individuals openly consuming drugs in a parking lot and refusing to leave the parking lot.

As officers approached, an unregistered BMW accelerated toward them, but then swerved onto the sidewalk and lawn in an attempt to escape.

It was later confirmed that the vehicle was stolen.

Officers initiated a chase through downtown and an officer successfully performed a PIT maneuver to stop the car.

After the vehicle was stopped, officers detained it with their patrol cars. Both suspects immediately fled on foot but were quickly apprehended by pursuing officers. The suspects, both Kent residents, now face multiple charges related to the stolen vehicle and other offenses committed during the incident.
