A 27-year-old Cheyenne man is facing felony charges after police allegedly found methamphetamine during a traffic stop in south Cheyenne.

According to a booking sheet, D’Antae Antonio McCray was arrested at 3:06 a.m. on August 16, 2024, after police stopped the car he was driving near the corner of East 7th Street and Russell Avenue because the license plate light was defective.

According to police, McCray was not wearing a seatbelt and when asked his name, he identified himself as his brother, “D’Andre McCray.”

When police searched the car, they allegedly found 4.79 grams of suspected methamphetamine on the passenger side of the vehicle where McCray was sitting.

McCray was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center, where he was booked without incident.

McCray was subsequently charged with illegal possession of methamphetamine, a crime punishable by up to seven years in prison, a fine of up to $15,000, or both.

He was also charged with obstructing a peace officer – not assault, but a misdemeanor.

McCray made his first appearance in Laramie County District Court on August 20, 2024, where his bail was set at $3,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for August 23, 2024 at 9:45 a.m.

Please remember that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
