Hotties, get ready for the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.

On August 22, MTV announced that Megan Thee Stallion will host this year’s VMAs, where she is nominated for five awards.

The “Mamushi” rapper received awards for the upcoming ceremony, including best collaboration with GloRilla for “Wanna Be,” as well as best hip hop, best visual effects, best direction and best art direction for “Boa.”

Nicki Minaj hosted the last two VMA ceremonies.

The nominations for the 2024 MTV VMAs were led by Taylor Swift with ten, followed by Post Malone with nine, while Sabrina Carpenter, Eminem and Ariana Grande each received six nominations.

Katy Perry will be honored with the coveted Video Vanguard Award at the ceremony and will present a medley of hits from her catalog – and probably new material from her upcoming 143 Album.

Other artists attending this year’s VMAs include Carpenter, Benson Boone, Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Halsey, Lenny Kravitz, LISA from Blackpink and Rauw Alejandro.

The 2024 MTV VMAs will air live from the UBS Arena in New York at 8 p.m. ET.

Megan’s appearance as host comes shortly after the release of her eponymous third album in June. The project has spawned several hits, including the chart-topping “Hiss” and the viral “Mamushi” featuring Yuki Chiba.

The “WAP” rapper also recently wrapped up her Hot Girl Summer Tour in July. During the tour’s final show at the O2 Arena in London, she brought Chiba, 34, along as a surprise guest for the first live performance of “Mamushi.”

Since its release on Megan’s latest album, the bilingual song has gone viral on TikTok, where it served as the soundtrack to more than 1.8 million videos and reached number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100. The NSFW music video “Mamushi” was released earlier this month.

The track is named after a snake found in Japan and is one of several on Megan’s latest album that feature a snake motif, such as “Boa,” “Hiss,” “Rattle,” and “Cobra.”

In an interview with The official USA“We don’t stop at the snake. That’s just what everyone is seeing right now. Renewal, rebirth: that’s the whole concept of this (album),” she told the outlet.

“We started with the snake because I love snakes, but I feel like snakes are so misunderstood, especially in Western culture,” Megan added. “Snakes represent rebirth and spirituality.”

She continued: “I’m not really a person who says: Oh my god, sunshine and just super bubbly, happy. I like darker things. I like things that are a little bit scary. I like things that are unique. I chose the snake because… it’s kind of an anti-hero.”
