GOOG GOOGLE Google-in possession YouTube has launched a new AI assistant to help users recover hacked accounts.
What happened: The AI chatbot, described as a “troubleshooting tool,” is accessible through the YouTube Help Center and guides hacked creators by asking a series of questions to secure their Google logins and undo any unauthorized changes to their channels.
Currently, Support Assistant is only available in English and limited to a select group of creators, but Google plans to eventually expand access to all creators.
The chatbot appears to be a standard support tool without any generative AI features. However, it does not address the developers’ main complaint that it is difficult to contact YouTube directly when issues arise.

The addition of an AI-powered chatbot could disappoint creators who had hoped for better communication from YouTube, especially since even major YouTubers like Linus Tech Tips.
Smaller accounts often struggle with longer resolution times due to limited direct support. Some are even forced to contact the streaming giant via a social media platform. X.

Why it is important: The launch of YouTube’s AI chatbot comes in the wake of several high-profile hacker attacks.
In April 2022, some of the biggest names in the music industry, including drake, EminemAnd Justin Bieberhad their YouTube accounts compromised by an unauthorized source who uploaded bizarre clips. The hacker’s actions affected artists with millions of subscribers and highlighted the platform’s vulnerability.
In addition, in September 2022, the South Korean government’s official YouTube channel was hacked and renamed “SpaceX Invest.” A video was then broadcast in which Elon Musk Discuss cryptocurrency.
YouTube’s new AI chatbot aims to address these concerns by providing creators with a streamlined process to regain control of their accounts, but it remains to be seen how effective this tool is at quickly resolving issues.
