ALT BLK ERA have just revealed the next single from their long-awaited debut album.
The duo’s latest offering is called “Straight To Heart” and, like the entire record, reflects singer Nyrobi’s recent experiences with his chronic illness.
“I became chronically ill during lockdown and was in constant, unbearable pain throughout my body,” says the singer. “Partly due to my illness and partly due to the powerful painkillers I was prescribed, I existed in a fog of dream-like, whispery moments where I slept 20 hours a day.”
“As the months and years went by, I noticed in my lucid moments that my friends had forgotten me, and as I slowly came out of the fog I was in, they made no effort to reconnect with me. I was abandoned, forgotten, so I had to deal with both the physical and emotional pain. I was incredibly lonely and my life was just a shell of mere existence.
“This all happened during my teenage years, an important time in my life when I was figuring out who I was. The lockdowns and then my illness robbed me of important ‘normal’ teenage experiences.
“The song will speak to anyone who is struggling with or has ever felt loneliness, abandonment or neglect.”
