Need a good AI image generator? You can try Midjourney’s dedicated website for free right now. On Wednesday, Midjourney CEO David Holz announced via a Discord message that anyone can go to the site and start creating images. As a special invitation, the site lets you create up to 25 images as part of a free trial.

In the past, Midjourney users had to use Discord to create and refine AI-powered images. This process required a lot of trial and error with text-based prompts, which was often a cumbersome and frustrating experience. To attract people who didn’t like the Discord method, Midjourney launched its own website late last year.

However, the site was initially limited to users who had generated at least 10,000 images through Discord, which excluded a lot of people. Now that the site is open to everyone, all Midjourney users should enjoy a much easier and smoother experience.

Signing up to the site requires a Google or Discord account. If you’ve already created images through Discord, you can use that account to get a history of the images you’ve created in the past. You can then merge your Discord and Google accounts to be able to log in with either account. Otherwise, logging in with a Google account is easier.

Plus: This handy AI app can read anything to you for free – now in 32 languages

Once you’ve logged in, you’ll see tabs for different sections and tasks in a sidebar on the left. The Explore section lets you look at images other people have created. The Create section shows you a short but helpful video that shows you how to get started with Midjourney. This video can also be seen in a post on X. From here, you can then request an image. Just type your prompt into the box above and see what Midjourney cooks up.

In response, Midjourney conjures up four different images based on your prompt. Click on an image you like and you can refine it with certain actions like Strong or Subtle. You can also zoom in or out, pan around, and enlarge the image.

Even cooler, Midjourney includes an image editor that lets you revise the prompt, change specific areas of an image, change the aspect ratio, adjust the scale, and even add new elements.

The Organize section displays all the images you’ve created. Here you can open and optimize a specific image, as well as copy and download it.

The site also offers chat rooms where you can view other people’s pictures, upload your own pictures, and share tips and tricks with other Midjourney users.

What happens when you use up your quota of 25 free images? Ah, then you have to sign up for one of the paid plans. Midjourney offers four plans – Basic, Standard, Pro and Mega – each with different prices and different quotas.
