YouTube has developed a new AI channel assistant feature to help hacked users recover their accounts.
YouTube has a recurring problem with its users getting hacked. Some of the biggest names on the platform, like LinusTechTips, have had their accounts hacked in recent years.
Now YouTube is launching a brand new AI-powered support assistant to better help creators who fear their account has been hacked or compromised.
Previously, users had to try changing their passwords or using the Google Account recovery page to recover their hacked accounts.
DextertoSome of the biggest names on the site have even used their large social media followings to contact YouTube directly in an effort to find a quicker resolution.
For now only “authorized creators” allowed
This new “troubleshooting tool,” announced by YouTube on August 21, 2024, provides another layer of support for the worst-case scenario.
The new tool is hidden in the YouTube Help Center and guides the user through a series of questions about them and their channel.
According to Google’s support page for the new feature, these questions help secure access to your Google sign-in, which is key to regaining control of your channel.
It will then undo any changes the hacker made to the affected account, including any unauthorized video uploads, changes to your AdSense account, and changes to its details.
The new tool is currently only available in English. In addition, only “authorized creators” should have access to the tool. However, Google does not clearly explain what criteria are required for this.
While it is currently only available in English, Google is working to make it available to all developers in the future.
