Sabrina Carpenter has increased anticipation for her upcoming single “Taste” by releasing a teaser for the music video, which features a dramatic encounter with Wednesday Star: Jenna Ortega.

The clip, shared on the “Please Please Please” singer’s social media on August 21, immediately sent her fans into a frenzy.

In the teaser, the 25-year-old pop star, dressed in dark clothing, selects a knife from a bed of menacing weapons. The tension rises as she wanders through a dimly lit house, leading to a tense confrontation with Ortega, who is caught in a compromising shower scene.

Just as Carpenter rips back the shower curtain and sees Ortega and an unnamed man making out, the screen fades to black, leaving viewers on edge. The teaser ends with Carpenter calmly using the knife as a mirror to correct her lipstick and saying the chilling line, “Oh, I’m making quite an impression.”

“Taste” is the third single from Carpenter’s highly anticipated sixth studio album. Short and sweetwhich will be released on August 23rd.

Carpenter co-wrote “Taste” with songwriting heavyweights Julia Michaels and Amy Allen, with John Ryan and Ian Kirkpatrick producing.

The song deals with complex relationship dynamics, a topic that Carpenter does not shy away from. “I will write every song. That doesn’t mean I will release it, but I will write it,” the singer recently revealed in an interview with Paper magazine

“I believe the series of unfortunate events I have experienced in relationships are no secret to people who know me or think they know me.”

Directed by Dave Meyers, known for his work on iconic videos such as Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” and Kendrick Lamar’s “HUMBLE.”, the video for “Taste” aims to take the drama of the song to the next level with his signature cinematic flair.

Sabrina has a strong influence on the Billboard on the charts, with their single “Please Please Please” reaching No. 1 on June 29. “Espresso” also performed well, reaching No. 3 on June 22. Previous hits such as “Feather” and “Skin” reached No. 21 and 48, respectively.

Short and sweet is intended to showcase Carpenter’s evolution as an artist, with tracks like “Good Graces,” “Sharpest Tools,” and “Juno” tackling themes of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery.
