Thanks to an AI upgrade to the platform, creating the perfect Gmail message on the go could soon be easier than ever.
Google’s email service has announced that it is adding even more Gemini AI tools to make it easier for users to compose and write emails on their mobile devices.
The new versions include an upgrade of the existing Help Me Write feature with the new Polish feature, which can turn drafts or rough notes into the perfect message.
Polishing up my emails
In a Google Workspace Updates blog post announcing the news, the company explains that the new additions will help users compose emails even faster, as they now only need to type rough notes in a draft and select “Polish.”
Users now have even more options to choose from when creating a draft, with the new Polish tool available alongside the Formalize, Elaborate, and Trim features.
The new additions are now rolling out to the Gmail apps for Android and iOS devices. When opening a blank email draft, users will see a “Get help writing” shortcut, but after writing 12 or more words, this will change to a “Refine my draft” option, which can be opened by swiping right on the text.
The feature is enabled by default and does not require administrator control. It also cannot be disabled by the user.
However, the tools are not available to everyone. Initially, they are limited to those who have paid for a Google One AI Premium account or the Google Workspace Gemini Business and Enterprise or Gemini Education and Education Premium add-ons.
This news is the latest addition to Gemini in Google Workspace as the company looks to offer more AI tools to its users. Gemini was recently confirmed to be generally available as a new side panel in popular apps like Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive—though for now, only paying Google Workspace customers can access it.
