The International Paralympic Committee partners with YouTube to create the most comprehensive Paralympic Games coverage yet

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has partnered with YouTube to maximize the global reach of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and complement the coverage of official broadcasters.

From August 28 to September 8, the Paralympics YouTube channel will offer the most comprehensive coverage of the Paralympic Games to date, including live action from start to finish, replays, highlights, creator content, athlete profiles and much more. The content will be available free of charge to users in 175 markets and territories around the world.

The audience can expect:

• Live coverage: Nearly 1,400 hours of live coverage from all 22 Paralympic sports will be available, including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

• Multiview: For the first time, YouTube is rolling out Multiview globally, allowing viewers to watch up to four streams of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games simultaneously. Multiview has previously been used at events such as the NFL and Coachella, and in some regions during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

• Clips and Highlights: Each day of the Games, clips from every single race, event and match – more than 1,200 clips in total – will be made available on the Paralympics YouTube channel so audiences can catch up on the action when they want. These will be shown to users on the Official Maps search page, making it easy for them to find Paralympics content.

• YouTube Shorts: Throughout the Games, the IPC will also produce nearly 400 YouTube short films focusing on major sporting moments and up to 40 feature films featuring athletes.

• Rising Phoenix: Road to Tokyo: A three-part series following 12 elite para-athletes from 11 countries as they prepare for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The next installment in the Rising Phoenix “universe” created by Emmy Award winner Harder Than You Think.

Mike Peters, IPC CEO, said: “By partnering with YouTube for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, we are maximising the global reach of the most transformative sporting event on the planet and inspiring new viewers to see the achievements of Paralympics athletes.

During the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, YouTube will become the global stage for the unsung heroes and heroines of the Games, where everyone can celebrate and be inspired by them.”

In the run-up to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the IPC has produced a series of films to educate and engage audiences about Paralympic sport and the stories of leading Para-athletes.

The content includes:

• Paris 2024 Sport Explainers – In collaboration with Allianz, produced 90-second animated guides on each of the 22 Paralympic sports.

• Crafting Champions – 22 of the world’s best Para athletes give an insight into their preparations for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.

• Game Changers – 22 short films featuring para-athletes who have fundamentally changed their sport.

• #ChangeStartsWithSport – A series of 22 films in which Paralympians explain the transformative impact Paralympic sport has had on their lives.

• Ones to Watch – 22 short films highlighting the star athletes from each sport taking centre stage at the upcoming Paralympic Games.

Many media rights holders for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games are looking to use YouTube to enhance their coverage of the event, with many looking to stream every minute of all the sporting action.

YouTube is the global digital home for sports moments big and small. More than 35 billion hours of sports content are consumed on YouTube each year. In certain markets, YouTube is geo-blocked depending on the rights sold in that region.
