The music video features Sam Smith, who hints at an upcoming collaboration with the singer.
In the music video for Barbie With her song “Speed Drive,” Charli XCX brings a whole new dimension to being a passenger princess.
The 31-year-old British singer-songwriter starts the high-speed music video in the passenger seat of every Barbie fan’s dream car – a pink Corvette with fluffy seat covers, a Barbie Land license plate and, of course, glitter everywhere.
The convertible is the perfect nod to the singer’s iconic doll, whose discography is full of car references. (See: “Vroom Vroom”, crash and every verse of “I Love It.”)
At the wheel of the life-sized Barbie-mobile is none other than Internet It Girl Devon Lee Carlson (a cheeky reference to the song lyrics “Devon Lee smile teeth a white row”), who drops Charli off – and races off to spin donuts around her for the rest of the video.

Charli also gets a bit meta by pausing the music video within the music video when she gets a call from a colleague Barbie: The Album Contributor Sam Smith. During their call, the pop stars appear to announce an upcoming collaboration.
After the singer hangs up, Carlson shifts things up a notch as Charli launches into the song’s catchy chorus: “Ah, Barbie, you’re so amazing / You’re so amazing, you blow my mind.”
