Man from T’ganu was afraid to tell his wife that he had spent an entire month’s salary and instead filed a false report with the police

Fearing his wife’s excuses for spending his entire month’s salary and lending part of it to a friend, a security guard decided to file a false report with the police about an alleged robbery.

According to a report by Harian Metro, Kemaman District Police Chief Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan said the 65-year-old man’s fraud was uncovered after police completed their investigation.

The man, who works as a security guard, was on duty in the Teluk Kalong Industrial Area before he made his way to Chukai Police Station at 8am yesterday (11 August) to file the false report.

“The man claimed to have withdrawn money from a petrol station in Kijal and was on his way home in Teluk Kalong when his car was stopped by a Rohingya man who asked for help to take his friend, who was lying on the ground, to a clinic,”

“When he got out of the vehicle, he claimed that the Rohingya man who had stopped his car pointed a knife at him from behind, while the man who was lying on the ground stood up and pointed a machete at his stomach,” Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan said.

The Rohingya men then allegedly took 1,100 RM from the man’s pocket and fled on a motorcycle.

However, none of this is true.

While the police were investigating the case, the man confessed that the robbery never took place.

Before his false report, the man only had trouble with his wife. Now he is also in trouble with the police because of the false report.

This case is now being investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code for providing false information to a public servant.
