The list of fall sports preseason polls continued this week with the release of the NSIC’s 2024-25 men’s golf preseason coaches poll, which selected Minot State University (MSU) to finish eighth in the league championship in April.

The Beavers tied for eighth place with their in-state rival, the University of Mary, as both received 12 points each in the league coaches’ vote.

The MSU men’s and women’s golf teams will open the 2024-25 season in three weeks, playing in the Bemidji State Invitational for the men and the Tracy Lane Memorial for the women, hosted by Bemidji State, on Sept. 9 and 10 at Bemidji Town and Country Club. The 2024-25 NSIC Golf Championships will be held in April 2025.

While MSU was ranked No. 8, senior Chase Gedak was highlighted as the NSIC golfer of the season to watch. Gedak is a senior from Estevan, Saskatchewan who finished eighth at the 2023-24 NSIC Championship last spring, shooting 4-over 220 strokes (75-73-72).

Reigning NSIC champion Minnesota State, Mankato, was named champion again with 59 points and six first-place votes, while Winona State was voted second with 55 points and Concordia, St. Paul was voted third with 49 points and two first-place votes.

Mason Weeks, a senior from Sioux Falls and an All-NSIC First Team selection last year, was named the preseason’s top golfer.
