Colorado Governor Jared Polis says Vice President Kamala Harris’s “forward-looking, joyful vision” for the country’s future is exciting for many people in his state.

“Colorado is a state where non-religious voters are a strong majority,” Polis said in an interview with PBS News on the third night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. “They make up 48 percent of the voters in our state, soon it will be over 50 percent, but Donald Trump is not appealing to those voters.”
Polis believes that with Harris at the forefront of the race, Democrats’ chances of gaining control of the House of Representatives have increased.

“I would say it’s going from a tough fight to a dead heat,” he said. In Colorado, Democratic Rep. Yadira Caraveo is running for re-election in the state’s 8th congressional district, where she won by less than 500 votes in 2022.
Polis also said he was delighted with Harris’ decision to select Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.
“Governors deal with crises, they deal with fires, they deal with highways, they deal with crime. These are not partisan issues, and Tim Walz is someone who rolled up his sleeves and got things done,” he said.
Walz officially accepted the vice presidential nomination on Wednesday, one day before Harris takes the stage as the official candidate.
