Retired Army Major General Mari Eder shares her thoughts on the history of the Defense Information School during a birthday celebration for the institution on Aug. 8, 2024, at Fort Meade, Maryland. Eder joined 150 other attendees to celebrate the school’s 60th anniversary. The Defense Information School celebrated its 60th anniversary on Aug. 7 and 8 at its Fort Meade, Maryland campus. The school proudly welcomed its newest members to the Hall of Fame on Aug. 7. DINFOS hosted an Alumni Training Day on Aug. 8, inviting all Department of Defense public affairs and visual information professionals to go “back to school” for a day of modernizing their PA and VI skills. Training covered topics such as artificial intelligence, information advantage, combating misinformation and disinformation, graphic design, podcasting and storytelling trends. The festivities concluded on the evening of Aug. 8 with the DINFOS Diamond Anniversary. Attendees enjoyed live music, special guests and the camaraderie of DINFOS family and friends.
