Tell the Colorado apartment complex to stop the squirrel slaughter immediately!

Tell the Colorado apartment complex to stop the squirrel slaughter immediately!

Concerned witnesses contacted PETA about a lethal squirrel control initiative allegedly underway at The Marks Cherry Hills apartment complex in Englewood, Colorado. Dozens of lethal traps have reportedly been set up around the complex and numerous animals have died, including one that was reportedly not killed immediately but was reportedly left screaming and struggling for more than a day while its head was stuck in one of the traps. Killing these animals is not only cruel, but it also tears wild families apart and leaves orphaned young animals to starve. Furthermore, lethal initiatives simply do not work to control the squirrel population and can instead lead to a population explosion.

PETA contacted the complex and urged management to abandon lethal control methods in favor of proven, humane alternatives. However, there was no response and we were told that the cruel killing continues. So we, the squirrels, must speak out now! Please send a quick message and call The Marks management team and the leadership of the parent company and ask them to stop trapping and instead use humane squirrel control methods that everyone, including the squirrels, can live with. Then forward this warning to everyone you know.

I was dismayed to learn that a contractor was allegedly hired to set up deadly squirrel traps at The Marks Cherry Hills apartment complex in Englewood, Colorado. Dozens of squirrels were reportedly killed, including one that was reportedly not killed outright, but was allegedly left screaming and struggling for more than a day while its head was stuck in one of the traps. Not only is killing these animals cruel, it will do nothing to keep the squirrel population under control. Killing or otherwise removing wildlife will actually prove detrimental, as the remaining animals will simply accelerate their reproduction due to the resulting increase in food supply, while new arrivals will inevitably arrive for the resources still available as long as the areas remain attractive and accessible, and the overall population will then increase.

Please stop trapping squirrels and instead turn to a non-lethal method that involves making the environment unattractive through the use of deterrents and preventing entry into buildings and crawl spaces by repairing or sealing entry points.
