Debbie Wasserman Schultz at the Democratic National Convention: Watch

Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida spoke on the third night of the Democratic National Convention about the conservative policies passed in her home state of Florida.

She represents part of South Florida, a liberal part of the state that has become a staunch Republican electorate in recent decades. But with Vice President Kamala Harris’s rising popularity, some polls suggest the tide may be turning.

She compared Florida’s far-right laws on abortion, LGBTQ+ rights and diversity curricula to the threat posed by Project 2025.

“We cannot allow them to do to America what they did to Florida,” Wasserman Schultz said.

The Democratic Party Convention will take place Monday through Thursday at the United Center in Chicago. Chicago has hosted the Democratic Party Convention eleven times, most recently in 1996, when President Bill Clinton was nominated for a second term at the United Center.
