Gwynn Jones, owner of Olive + Oak, says she has always been a crafter, so starting this business was a no-brainer.
“I was a kid who was always like, ‘Do you want to make friendship bracelets and paint something?’ I guess I never grew out of that phase. And I made it a career for myself and my husband most days,” Jones says.
The Creative Studio is for people of all ages and anyone who wants to try something new.
“We do everything from toddlers on up. Our very young ones come along and our older staff come along too and everyone has fun. You can find a project that appeals to you and that you can do at any experience level that is fun,” Jones says. “We want them to be useful no matter what age or skill level you are at.”
You can sign up for studio workshops, take home a DIY kit, or even book a private party.
“Whether you come for a kit or a workshop, you pick your colors, you get glue, and you definitely go home with a complete project,” adds Jones.
At the studio workshops, local artisans come with a project design and help participants make it their own.
On Sunday 25th August there will be a wooden flower arranging workshop at 2:30pm led by Moriah from Sola Flower Obsessions.
“She comes in and brings a bunch of hand-dyed flowers or succulents. These are flowers. And she shows you how to arrange all the pieces so you go home with a really pretty arrangement. And it’s so much fun to pick out all the colors and all the little special pieces and make each one unique,” Jones says.
The boutique and studio have so much to offer.
“We have everything from wooden craft kits, that’s our specialty. We make it all ourselves. We have macrame, embroidery, we have thick yarn, ready for the colder months to come,” Jones describes.
