Teens steal vehicles and cause chaos from Yeadon to Upper Darby to Haverford – Delco Times

Two teens are in custody after stealing cars in Philadelphia and Upper Darby and causing an accident in Haverford Township early Wednesday.

Upper Darby Police Chief Timothy Bernhardt said they were notified by Yeadon police around 1 a.m. of a possible stolen vehicle that police had tracked into the community.

The vehicle stolen in Philadelphia was discovered at the Barclay Square Apartments in Upper Darby.

Two men fled the vehicle and one was arrested by municipal officials.

At 1:36 a.m., police received a report that an F-250 had just been stolen in the 300 block of Clearbrook Avenue and that the second person was suspected.

Officers saw the F-250 at the corner of Township Line and West Chester Pike and attempted to pursue it, but the pickup truck veered into the oncoming lane, forcing them to stop.

Haverford police were also involved in the pursuit, but called off the pursuit for safety reasons.

At some point, the pickup truck collided with a Honda in the oncoming lane in the 1300 block of West Chester Pike. Bernhardt said there were no serious injuries, but one person was taken to the hospital in pain.

The suspect got out and ran, but officers formed a security ring nearby and arrested the teenager after a few minutes.

Bernhardt said there is an arrest warrant out for one of the teens in Montgomery County.

Because of their age, their identities were not disclosed, Bernhardt said.
