While The Walt Disney Company has undoubtedly developed some of the most iconic and legendary rides in the world, few are as tall (literally) as the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Debuting at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 1994, the attraction has become one of the most recognizable and beloved attractions in theme park history.

Due to its popularity, a second version was designed and developed for Disney California Adventure in 2004. This attraction received a Marvel makeover in 2017 and reopened as Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT, allowing it to be integrated into Disneyland’s superhero land, Avengers Campus.

In 2007, the Disneyland Paris Resort received its own version of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, offering a similar experience to what Disneyland had before its redesign. Much like its western counterparts, the Paris Tower of Terror became one of the resort’s most popular attractions, towering over the rest of Walt Disney Studios Park.

However, some fans are not enthusiastic about the attraction and have now started a petition calling on Disney to give the Tower of Terror a completely new theme.

This week, a petition began gaining momentum calling on Disney to renovate Paris’ version of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror into a new Guardians of the Galaxy-inspired attraction modeled after Disneyland.

The petition was launched on August 20, 2024, has received over twenty supporters and is approaching its next goal of 25 signatures.

The author of this petition calls on Disney to replace the Tower of Terror with Guardians of the Galaxy and justifies his decision with the following statement:

We, the fans of Disneyland Paris, ask the most visited destination in Europe to replace the old and dusty Tower of Terror, based on an unknown and old TV series that no one has heard of except in the attraction, with a new IP more relevant in our time: Guardians of the Galaxy. The transition was carried out in 2017 at Disney California Adventure with great success with the former twin sister of the Tower of Terror of Disneyland Paris. For guests as well as fans, this transformation would improve the offer and coherence of the park, since it is right next to the Avengers Campus.

The petition was started by an account called “Walt Disney Studios Park Saviour,” and while it may have originally been intended as a joke or meme, it’s clear that some fans aren’t happy with the current version of the attraction.

Disneyland Paris has its own version of the Avengers Campus, so a Guardians of the Galaxy redesign similar to Disneyland’s would make sense.

Disney retroactively made its Guardians attraction part of Avengers Campus when the site opened in 2021, meaning Disneyland Paris could make the same move in the future.

The European version of the Tower of Terror remains one of the resort’s most popular rides and is often considered the best ride at Walt Disney Studios Park, one of the two theme parks at Disneyland Paris.

Walt Disney Studios is currently undergoing a major renovation, with several locations and areas closing for renovations. All of these projects will come together when the World of Frozen expansion opens in Paris in 2026.
