Former President Donald Trump is not afraid to give interviews, but he doesn’t venture into the green rooms of the mainstream media.

After appearing on “X Spaces” with Tesla CEO Elon Musk and a kick stream with internet star Adin Ross, the former president appeared on Barron Trump’s favorite podcast and chatted with comedian Theo Von.

To avoid negative coverage in the national press, Trump has appeared on several alternative media platforms to directly reach audiences, especially younger voters. In his last appearance, he spoke about Last weekend with Theo Von.

The former president said his youngest son was “a huge fan of the podcast. … He knows you very well, he said, ‘Dad, he’s big.'”

Trump used the appearance to show himself more human, at times turning away from politics and his election campaign to talk about his family. He gave some insight into his only child with wife Melania Trump and praised Barron Trump as intelligent and a great athlete.

“He plays golf and soccer – he’s very good at soccer,” he said. “He’s a good athlete, Barron.”

“He’s getting ready to go in the fall,” the former president continued. “A good college. He’s smart – a smart guy. He’s always been a very good student, smart, he’s a smart guy.”

The two also talked about Trump’s sobriety. The former president spoke about how the experience with his alcoholic brother Fred Trump affected him so much that he never touched drugs or alcohol again.

“I had a great brother who taught me a lesson: Don’t drink, don’t drink,” he said. “And he said, ‘Don’t smoke’ – he smoked and drank. And he was a great guy, he was a handsome, very handsome guy.”

“He had a drinking problem and smoked a lot,” Trump continued. “You know, I tell people: no drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes. I tell my kids that all the time.”

Von discussed his past problems with alcohol and drugs and described the effects of cocaine to Trump.

“Cocaine turns you into a fucking owl, buddy,” Von said. “You’ll be your own streetlight. It’s a miserable feeling, but you do it anyway.”

The interview was the latest round of the former president’s alternative media offensive. His conversation with Ross, another Barron Trump favorite, was streamed for 90 minutes, with 500,000 people watching live and another 100 million listening to the conversation afterward, according to Trump.

Barron Trump also got his father to give an interview to influencer Logan Paul, in which he addressed pop culture topics such as the “big rap beef” between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign responded with its own social media offensive and several influential figures spoke at the Democratic Party Convention.
