Windsor Police find no impaired drivers during evening RIDE program

Windsor Police report that no impaired drivers were encountered during a roadside RIDE program Tuesday evening.

Police stopped a total of 530 vehicles at RIDE program locations in Windsor.

According to the police, only one of the 530 vehicles checked during the traffic operation was road tested.

According to a tweet posted Wednesday morning on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Windsor police said their officers did not encounter any impaired drivers during the RIDE program.

According to police, officers also issued a total of 53 enforcement actions on Tuesday evening for other offenses, including speeding, driving without a license and failure to display a front license plate.

Police are asking the public to call 911 and report anyone suspected of driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Over the weekend, Essex County OPP charged four people with driving under the influence in separate incidents that occurred over a 22-hour period.

A 62-year-old woman who was arrested in the town of Essex after reports emerged a vehicle that drives irregularly.

A few hours later, a patrol officer stopped a speeding vehicle on County Road 46 in Lakeshore Township and arrested a 33-year-old man.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on County Road 42 in Lakeshore. Later Sunday evening, a fourth motorist, a 65-year-old woman, was arrested during a traffic stop in the town of Tecumseh.

All four defendants have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court Justice in Windsor later this month.
