“You only reach a high Steam level if you want to show off or are rich,” says YouTuber OhnePixel (Valve)

A player has apparently spent £380,000 to own the number one Steam account in the world with a ridiculous inventory of skins to show for it.

Not long ago, a video game collector set a Guinness World Record by connecting 444 gaming consoles – from the Magnavox Odyssey to the PS5 Slim – to the same television.

Now an unrelated but equally unnecessary record has been broken: a player has spent about half a million dollars to get the highest-rated Steam account in the world.

The Steam account in question is called Stasik and has now reached level 5960, which, according to one YouTuber, would cost him between $400,000 and $700,000 (£300,000 and £530,000).

The reason it can cost so much money to reach level 5960 is because you earn a lot of points on Steam by purchasing them and crafting badges, which can be done by buying a lot of trading cards.

For a long time, the Steam account St4ck held the top spot with level 5001, but recently Stasik, who according to his profile lives in the United Arab Emirates, overtook him by almost 1,000 levels.

Counter-Strike 2 YouTuber OhnePixel discovered the new record and said:

“To reach level 5000, it cost St4ck between $400,000 and $700,000 to become number one. (…) Steam even recognized him, they give him a special badge.”

OhnePixel also said that when St4ck leveled up his account a few years ago, Valve had to create new badges because no one had gotten that far before.

However, Stasik’s profile does not show a new badge, probably because Valve has not created one for such high levels.

Her profile also features a very impressive Counter-Strike 2 inventory, including seven brand new AWP Dragon Lore skins selling on third-party websites for £10,000 each.

Your account contains over 2.8 million items in total, including weapon cosmetics, rare stickers, and more from many different games.

“He spent over $500,000 (£380,000) to get that Steam level. What kind of person are you to spend half a million on a Steam level? You’re just doing it to show off on the internet,” added OhnePixel.
