Traffic stop in Queensbury leads to two arrests

According to police, two people were arrested on Tuesday following a traffic stop in which a “large quantity” of drugs was seized.

At 12:52 a.m. Tuesday, Warren County Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped a car on Lower Warren Street in the Town of Queensbury for allegedly committing a traffic violation.

The driver, John N. Rowland, 46, of Hudson Falls, was carrying a large amount of crack cocaine, as well as scales and packaging materials consistent with drug trafficking, according to police. Rowland also had smaller amounts of methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms and a switchblade knife.

Rowland was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, as well as misdemeanors of second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Rowland was arraigned and remanded to the Warren County Jail without bail.

According to police, Brittany M. Columbetti, 38, of Hudson Falls, a passenger in the vehicle, was found in possession of crack cocaine and arrested. She was charged with a misdemeanor, seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, and released.
