Actress and entrepreneur Naomi Watts has announced the release of her new book, Dare I Say It: Everything I Wish I’d Known about Menopause.
The memoir, which will be released in January 2025, will offer fans an intimate look into the Australian actress’s personal journey through menopause.
Watts, a well-known women’s health advocate, said she hopes her book will encourage women and help them feel “less alone” as they face menopause as a natural phase of aging.
The 55-year-old, who unveiled his new book on Instagram on Tuesday, said he had been working on the memoir for some time.
“I can’t believe the day has finally come where I can share with you what I’ve been working on for the last 14 months!!,” she told her 1.9 million followers.
“This is a book about how my life was turned upside down when I was told I was about to go through menopause at age 36! Just when I was ready to start a family.
“I thought that would be the end of everything. But my fertility and career boom were definitely over.”
Watts said she struggled with shame and insecurity during this time and felt abandoned by the lack of helpful resources.
“I remained silent as long as I could,” she wrote.
“But with half the population going through menopause and two of my grandmothers still alive and well, I was determined to learn more and optimise my health – and also bring women together so we feel like we’re not alone.”
The “King Kong” actress concluded: “We should all hold our heads high. We are older, we are wiser and we are NOT DONE!! We have earned our STRIPES.”
In 2022, Watts launched the wellness and beauty brand Stripes Beauty, which offers products specifically for women going through menopause.
In June, the brand was acquired by L Catterton, a company backed by LVMH, for an undisclosed amount.
