The Kentucky State Fair is a premier family event held in Louisville each August. Here are some great ideas for enjoying time with your kids or adults who are still kids at heart.
The Kentucky State Fair currently runs through August 25 at the Kentucky Exposition Center, 937 Phillips Lane, in Louisville. The annual showcase of all things Kentucky will celebrate a milestone in 2024—the fair’s 120th anniversary.
From Pike to Fulton, all 120 counties of Kentucky will be represented during the 11-day event, which will be packed with tasty treats and thrilling rides and will highlight the Bluegrass State’s agriculture and Kentucky talent.

What are the hours of operation of the Kentucky State Fair?
Outside:
- Wednesday, August 21st and Thursday, August 22nd, 10am to 10pm
- Friday, August 23rd and Saturday, August 24th, 10am to 11pm
- Sunday, August 25, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Inside:
- Wednesday, August 21st and Thursday, August 22nd, 10am to 8pm
- Friday, August 23rd and Saturday, August 24th, 10am to 9pm
- Sunday, August 25, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Fair admission and sale of all unlimited ride wristbands will end one hour prior to the posted closing time. Fairgoers under the age of 18 entering after 6 p.m. must be accompanied by a parent or guardian age 21 or older. Proof of age is required. IDs will be checked at the entrance.
Thrill Ville Ride Wristbands
At least 50 rides are coming to town in August, including thrill and family rides, as well as the iconic Astro Ferris Wheel. Thrill-seekers looking for wristbands for the all-day ride can purchase their Thrill Ville wristbands at the best price for $30, saving $5, online or at participating Kroger stores.

Parking for the Kentucky State Fair is available in Lot A at the Kentucky Exposition Center.
How much are tickets to the Kentucky State Fair?
