Richard Curtis does not plan to write any more films.

The 66-year-old screenwriter is known for his romantic comedies “Four Weddings and a Funeral” and “Love Actually”, but has ruled out writing another film because he finds his work monotonous.

Richard told Jon Snow on the Snowcast: “I’m not sure I’ll ever write another film because I like other people’s films more than my own now.

“I still remember the shock when I saw ‘Notting Hill’. I thought: ‘Oh my God, this is exactly the same film as ‘Four Weddings’!”

Curtis, who also had TV hits with “Blackadder” and “The Vicar of Dibley,” admits he was annoyed by the way his films were marketed.

He said: “When I see trailers for my films, everything is in the wrong order, they give away the plot, they use shots that aren’t in the film.”

The Comic Relief co-creator admits his work is not to everyone’s taste and “has a lot of respect for people” who don’t like his films – although he always advises critics to look at themselves too.

Curtis told Big Issue magazine: “I have a lot of respect for people who don’t like my films, as long as they try to change things in their own lives rather than just tearing them down.”

Critics accused the author of a lack of diversity and possibly sexist storylines in his films, and he said he would write his films differently today in response to campaigns such as the Black Lives Matter movement.

Richard said: “I think I would write different films now. Things are changing and that’s the exciting thing about a moment like this.”

“We’re all recalibrating, we’re all thinking about things differently. We have a really impatient young generation that’s focused on things that I never focused on. You know, I’m confident.”
