Now access passwords across devices without enabling Chrome sync

It was introduced on iOS last year

What is the story

Google Chrome is introducing a feature that will allow users to access their saved passwords and bookmarks across multiple devices by simply logging into their Google Account in the browser.

The update eliminates the need to enable Chrome sync separately, simplifying the process for users.

This change was first introduced for iOS last year and is now being rolled out to Android and the desktop versions of Chrome.

New feature offers a personalized browsing experience

The new feature in Google Chrome also offers users a “personalized browsing experience.”

This includes, for example, the ability to send tabs and use saved passwords across devices.

However, users who do not want to link their browsing data to their Google Account can choose not to sign in to Chrome.

The tech giant has clarified that enabling this feature will not automatically save your history or opened tabs to your Google account and will require separate consent.

Chrome’s development meets user expectations

Claire Charron, product manager at Chrome, said in the announcement: “Users increasingly expect to simply sign in to access their content, and then sign out to protect it.”

She added: “Given this evolution in technology and user norms, we continue to make progress in transforming our legacy sync model into one that even better meets today’s user expectations.”

This statement underscores Google’s commitment to improving the user experience by adapting its services to evolving user expectations.
