Everything you need to know about the 2024 MN State Fair

Ticket holders can enter the fair daily between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. On Labor Day, September 2, reduced hours apply from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The fairgrounds are open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., or on Labor Day from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The opening hours of individual buildings may vary.

Backpacks, bags, purses, coolers, etc. are allowed, but are subject to search, and all fairgoers must go through metal detectors at the entrance. Food and drinks brought in are permitted, as are service animals, wheelchairs, and strollers. The no-go list includes weapons, fireworks, alcohol, illegal drugs, pets, drones, bicycles, skateboards, and hoverboards.

You may bring your own wheelchair, scooter or stroller. HomeTown Mobility also rents scooters ($75/day), wheelchairs ($30), strollers ($20 single, $25 double) and wagons ($20) at five locations on the fairgrounds. Reservations are recommended at least the day before, otherwise it will be first come, first served on the day of the fair.

For the first time in 2024, yes! The fair has launched a new official mobile app for Android and iPhone, with daily schedules and interactive features. Visitors can save their favorite attractions in the app.

Ah, so you’re a regular fairgoer. New rides at the Mighty Midway include the Kraken, which stands 147 feet tall with a swinging arm, and the Defender “propeller ride.” The Cats & Dogs exhibit in the North End is a “sensory and interactive journey” about our furry friends. The State Fair Foundation’s new Welcome Wall gives fairgoers the opportunity to commemorate a person or special occasion (for a $600 donation). Building updates include improved traffic flow at the plant art exhibit, major improvements to the Fine Art Center and new areas to enjoy food and drink in the garden.
