On the second night of the Democratic National Convention, state and territorial delegates passionately voted for Kamala Harris on Tuesday night. But no state could match Georgia’s performance.

Atlanta rapper Lil Jon jumped on the dance floor to sing an abridged version of his hit “Turn Down for What” before Georgia Congresswoman Nikema Williams cast the state’s 123 delegate votes for Harris.

Williams was joined on the floor by Georgia State Senator Raphael Warnock, who gave Lil Jon a high five as Williams declared Georgia the home of President Jimmy Carter and the cradle of the civil rights movement.

All states vote at both the Democratic and Republican conventions, as each state nominates its delegates for its party’s presidential candidate. Donald Trump received 2,243 delegates at the RNC in June, when he only needed 1,215. Harris needed a total of 2,350 delegates and exceeded that number about halfway through the vote when New York pledged its 268 delegates to Harris.

The roll call and performance preceded speeches by Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, former First Lady Michelle Obama and former President Barack Obama.

Harris became the Democratic nominee when President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race on July 21, less than a month before the DNC.
