Statesboro 1st City Council Qualifiers | August 20

John Grotheer and Tangie Reese Johnson qualified today for the City Council election in the 1st District. Grice Connect provides daily updates on all new qualifiers.

Grice Connect compiles a daily list of people qualified to run for the 1st District seat on the Statesboro City Council in the November special election.

At its meeting on August 6, 2024, the Statesboro City Council passed a resolution calling for a special election to fill the remaining term of the vacant District 1 City Council seat previously held by Phil Boyum.

Below is the list of citizens who have qualified to run for office as of the end of today, August 20, 2024.

  • Tangie Reese Johnson

Qualification for this seat began at 8:30 a.m. this morning and will run until 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024.

Candidates wishing to qualify for the office of 1st District City Council member must submit their candidacy to the Elections Supervisor for Qualification at Statesboro City Hall between Tuesday, August 20th and Thursday, August 22nd from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The qualification fee is $330.

The last day to register to vote is Monday, October 7.
