Diablo4 Season 5 saw a ton of rework for the Sorcerer class, which had been lagging behind the other four classes for several seasons. This made the Sorcerer a much stronger competitor in endgame activities, allowing it to push further into higher-tier activities. As a result, Sorcerer has never been more fun to play, and it has some of the most noticeable gameplay loops.

This Sorcerer build utilizes Chain Lightning for damage and the new unique Axial Conduit hose. This setup is shaping up to be one of the best builds of the season as it can effectively clear out level 7-8 Infernal Hordes, the current endgame activity. It’s not to be sniffed at boss damage either, hitting dozens of times per second, dealing millions of damage each time.

Best Skills and Aspects for Chain Lightning Wizards

Best skills and equipment

A chain lightning wizard from Diablo 4 who kills numerous enemies

The gameplay loop of Chain Lightning is quite different when you Diablo4‘s Axial Conduit, as the unique pants consume extraordinary amounts of mana. To compensate for this, use llegendary equipment with the affix “+6 Mana per second” and Shimmering Ice Armor and Invigorating Conduit in the early game, stacked with Destructive Chain Lightning. This should allow for easy mana recovery before you reach the passive, making this build incredible according to RageGamingVideos.

Once the player has enough mana regeneration, switching to Mystical Ice Armor for more damage is preferable.

The Heat passive is key to this build as it can now effectively combine with the Starlight Aspect through overhealing. Combined with the Firebolt enchantment, this means you will be healed for a large percentage of your maximum health for each burning enemy near you. This healing contributes to mana regeneration through the Starlight Aspect, allowing you to unleash more Chain Lightning with impunity.

It’s pretty important to increase the heat level of your chest armor and helmet by 1-2, as you can reach absurdly high healing levels when near burning enemies.

Chain Lightning alternates between circling you, seeking out up to 3 enemies. When it returns, it drains 6 mana for each active Chain Lightning. After the bolt drains a total of 66 mana, it explodes, dealing 150-600% lightning damage. Chain Lightning expires if you don’t have enough mana to drain it.

Boots

Esu’s Heirloom

Your critical hit chance is increased by 20-40% of your movement speed bonus.

Magic wand

Lightning rod aspect

Chain Lightning has a 25% chance to deal 50-80% increased damage. This chance is doubled against bosses or enemies under crowd control and is the preferred target.

For each type of elemental damage you deal, you gain 10-20% increased damage for 4 seconds, up to 40-80%. Dealing elemental damage refreshes all bonuses.

To further increase the strength of this build, some Mythic Uniques are required. The Andariel’s Visage helmet is perfect for this buildbecause the Poison Nova allows for more damage stacks from Tal Rasha and the +437 Health on Hit affix provides even more mana regeneration. Ring of the Starless Sky can also be used quite effectively as a replacement for the Starlight Aspect if you already have Andariel’s Visage.

Chain Lightning Wizard Paragon Board

Focus on critical hit damage

A Paragon board showing the rare node “Erudite” in Diablo 4.

There are many ways to build a Paragon board for Chain Lightning Sorcerer, but this build uses eight glyphs for maximum damage potential, as seen in the video from RageGamingVideos. Prioritize leveling up Reinforced and Elementalist to activate the corresponding additional bonuses and destruction for increased critical hit damage. This build is primarily critical hitting, meaning that increasing critical hit damage will increase overall damage tremendously.

Paragon Board

Rare Glyph

Reinforced

Grants a 125% bonus to all rare nodes within range. While you have a barrier active, you gain 15% damage reduction.

Master of Enchantment

Elementalist

Paragon nodes within range receive a 75% bonus to their non-physical damage and damage reduction modifiers. When you deal Fire, Cold, or Lightning damage to an enemy, all damage you deal to them is increased by 5% for 10 seconds. This value can stack once per element.

Burning instinct

destruction

For every 5 Dexterity purchased within range, you deal +19.8% more critical hit damage. Critical hits increase all damage the enemy takes from you by 2% (up to 12%) for 10 seconds.

Icy fate

Unleash

Grants a 150.0% bonus to all magic nodes within range. After spending 50 mana, you deal 8% more damage and gain 25% more mana regeneration for 3 seconds.

Elemental Summoner

Charged

For every 5 Intelligence purchased within range, Crackling Energy deals 13.2% more damage. Picking up Crackling Energy grants you 5% more damage for 5 seconds, up to 15%.

Incessant Channel

Flame thrower

For every 5 Dexterity purchased within range, you deal 9.9% more damage to burning targets. Burning enemies take 10% more direct damage.

Static voltage

Exploit

For every 5 Dexterity purchased within range, you deal 7.9% more damage to vulnerable targets. When you damage a vulnerable enemy, your damage is increased by 1% for 6 seconds, up to 10%.

Scorching heat

tactician

Grants a 125% bonus to all rare nodes within range. After using a defensive skill, you deal 10% more damage for 4 seconds. This duration is increased by 4 seconds for each defensive skill, not on your action bar.

If you don’t get the extra Paragon points from Renown, you can skip the Tactician Glyph.

This Paragon board setup is pretty standard for wizards, with stacking resistances and non-physical damage multipliers, but with the class reworks it has never felt stronger. With this build, players can feel confident tackling the highest levels of the Infernal Hordes and Farming Tormented Bosses In Diablo4.
