Registration for the North Shore Century Bike Tour is open

Registration is now open for the 2024 edition of the North Shore Century, the Evanston-based bike ride that attracts more than 2,000 cyclists each year. This year’s ride is sponsored by the Evanston Bicycle Club (EBC) and will take place on Sunday, September 15.

Registration takes place via the North Shore Century websiteThe registration fee is $40 until September 1st, $50 from September 2nd to 14th, and $60 on the day of the trip, subject to space availability.

Cyclists can choose which route to ride on the day of the ride: from the leisurely 25-mile loop through Glencoe to Century to the challenging 100-mile route that stretches into Wisconsin. Cyclists can also choose the 50- or 62-mile routes (the 62-mile route is 100 kilometers long, a metric century). The routes start at the Clark Street Beach House in Centennial Park and wind through 25 North Shore suburbs.

There are rest areas with refreshment facilities on all well-marked routes. At all rest areas, mechanical assistance from a local bike shop is available and in the event of an emergency, special vehicles can provide assistance during the ride.

The Evanston Bicycle Club donates net proceeds from NSC registration fees to nonprofit organizations that promote cycling in Evanston, Chicago and other area communities.

Additionally, several charities, including the Over the Rainbow Association, Climate Action Evanston, and the Children’s Tumor Foundation, raise money for their organizations by having riders participate in the North Shore Century.

Local bike shops Green Bay Cycles in Winnetka, On the Fly Mobile Bike Repair, The Recyclery in Chicago, Trek Highland Park, Velosmith in Wilmette, Wheel to Wheel Mobile Bike Repair and Zion Cyclery will provide free mechanics at rest areas along the ride.
