Bassem Youssef loses control of X-account after anti-Semitic tirades

The X-account of Egyptian comedian and Israel critic Bassem Youssef was blocked or deactivated after a series of controversial remarks about Jews.

Youssef claimed in his latest post on the social media platform that anti-Semitism is being used as a tactic of intimidation and is no longer effective.

“Are you still afraid of being called an anti-Semite by these Zionists?” Youssef wrote on Monday.

Youssef tried to incite Israel supporters with online comments

Youssef said on Facebook the same day that he knew he had angered Zionists by “whining, moaning and complaining” about anti-Semitism on his accounts.

The activist said on Sunday that excerpts from the July 31 podcast “This Past Weekend” in which he denounced Jews for claiming they were “the chosen people” had sparked controversy.

Youssef said in response to the viral clips that he wanted to make his position clear: “If you are chosen to spread the word of God or to do good to other people, that is wonderful,” but Israeli Jews are using this “divine” status to take away other people’s land and kill them.”

Supporters of Youssef claimed that X deleted his account to suppress his criticism of Israel, while some critics said he deactivated his own account.
