According to a report by the Guardian, Mark Zuckerberg was the first on the platform, but not the first with an ID.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has revealed the first email ID he used to create a Facebook account. In his recent activity on Threads, Zuckerberg responded to an artist’s funny post in which she wrote, “I’m years old, you had to have a .edu email address to join Facebook.”

Meta CEO Zuckerberg responded by saying: “The real ones know. The first account was [email protected].”

Soon after Mark’s response, comments poured in from old Facebook users saying, “Time flies.” Netizens reminisced about Facebook two decades ago and even asked the Facebook co-founder if the email was still active. One user wrote, “I remember being a senior in high school and the most excited I was to graduate so I could finally apply for a Facebook account using my college email address. That was all I cared about back then.”

“So many people are going to test this email now,” said another comment.

Another post said, “So many people are going to test this email now.” Another wrote, “I started college in fall 2004. I remember when we had to switch Facebook from our .edu addresses to the accounts we have now! I think late 2005 or 2006 or something?”

According to a report by the Guardian, Mark Zuckerberg was the first on the platform, but not the first to have an ID. Three other IDs were created before Zuckerberg’s ID for testing purposes and later deleted. While the meta CEO took fourth place on the list, Facebook co-founders Chris Hughes and Dustin Moscovitz took fifth and sixth place.

Facebook was founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg and fellow Harvard students Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz, Andrew McCollum, and Chris Hughes as “thefacebook.com.” It was reportedly launched as an “information directory for college students.” During the two decades following its launch, it underwent several changes, making it one of the most used social networks in the world.
