Multiple calls complaining about loud music; report of student jumping on school bus; traffic stops lead to arrests – Your local news

The City of Monroe Police reported the following incidents for the period August 8-15, 2024. Due to length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Please note that an arrest or indictment does not necessarily constitute a conviction.

  • Warrant – GW Carver – In reference to a named individual on location while searching the area for an individual who fled from a traffic stop. The individual had a warrant out for a probation violation. He was taken into custody and transported to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Unknown Law – Perry Street in reference to a woman screaming for help on the phone. When officers arrived, a named individual was seen fleeing the scene. She was tasered and arrested for disturbing the peace.
  • Other Law – Carwood Drive – male plaintiff stated that his two stepdaughters arrived at the house and began an altercation. When police asked them to leave the house, they left the premises and the plaintiff did not want any further action.
  • Theft Report – E. Washington St. – Regarding the theft report, this is a civil case where the person transferred money through a cash app and is not returning the money. Remedial action recommended.
  • Suspicious vehicle – South Broad Street – in reference to a Nissan truck that was in the parking lot for three days. The owner had permission from the property owner to leave it in the parking lot.
  • Assault Law – Blaine St. – The plaintiff reported a fight between herself and the assailant on August 2nd. A video of the incident was provided. The plaintiff had visible injuries from the fight. A warrant for the arrest of the alleged assailant was sought.
  • Dispute – Hardee’s – Dispute between employees over a run out of cookies. The employees were evicted from the premises on the manager’s orders.
  • Loud Music – Meadows Farm Way – Regarding loud music on Landers Street. Additional patrol request. No music was heard at the time of the call.
  • Loud Music – Landers St. – Second call regarding loud music. This has been an ongoing issue with service calls for several months. The issue is that the person at one address is installing audio systems in cars. The City Marshal has been notified of the ongoing noise complaints and a possible unlicensed business.
  • Civil Matter/Property Damage – Blaine St. – Relating to damage to the plaintiff’s vehicle caused by the defendant one month prior. Case number provided; remedial action recommended.
  • Agency Assistance – Tall Oaks E – Regarding an agency assistance, DFACS wanted to conduct a welfare check/investigation of their plan with an individual. A DFACS staff member has completed her investigation.
  • Dispute – W. Spring St. – Regarding the dispute, the plaintiff wanted the individual to trespass from the property due to previous theft offenses. The individual has some mental health issues due to their age. I requested the individual be dispatched for trespassing. Report taken.
  • Juvenile Complaint – Ridge Road – Complainant’s daughter was assaulted on the school bus. The juvenile was found to be a student at Walnut Grove. WCSO SRO was contacted to note the incident occurred on school property and not within the Monroe city limits.
  • Transportation – Blaine St. – Regarding transportation, the female involved was transported to the Walton County Jail for CID without incident.
  • Loud Music – Landers St. – Music coming from E Church St. Third, call regarding loud music that day, no loud music is heard. Contact was made on E Church Street; the homeowner was explained the City’s noise ordinance. The City Marshal was also notified.
  • Traffic Stop/Arrest – Alcovy St. at Belle Meade – Subject arrested on a warrant for failure to appear by MPD following a traffic stop for speeding.
  • Suspicious Persons – Walton Cotton Mill – Regarding two individuals taking photos on site in a closed business. They were advised to conduct their business on site during normal business hours and with the permission of the owner. All OK.
  • Traffic Stop – S Broad St / Walgreens – In reference to a traffic stop conducted due to the passenger side tail light not working properly. The driver was arrested for driving without a license.
  • Dispute – Tanglewood Dr. – Regarding the plaintiff, it was advised that the subject was in dispute with her. Options were recommended.
  • Area Control – Walmart – Regarding the complainant’s statement that he heard someone screaming for help. The complainant advised that he did not see anyone screaming but observed a white van speeding out of the parking lot. Camera footage was captured inside the store and only one white van was seen in the parking lot at the time of the incident. The van appeared to be occupied 1 time and left the area 1 time. A second vehicle (gray Nissan) was reported to be the vehicle the screaming was coming from. Two female subjects were seen on video footage who appeared to be fine as they exited the parking lot. Report recorded.
