Donations to date have reached nearly $211 billion, up 7% from 2023, when contributions of $27 billion were received.

At the top of the list is Warren Buffetthe eighth richest man in the world according to Forbes – with 56.7 billion dollars in donations over the course of his life. He is followed by the Californian Mackenzie Scott (Ex-wife of Amazon owner and President Jeff Bezos), who continues to make significant annual donations to organizations in the United States, Brazil and India. The new additions include Barbara PicowerWidow of Jeffry Picower, a known beneficiary of Bernie Madoff’s fraud.

The five most generous philanthropists of 2023 were Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates, George Soros, Michael Bloomberg and MacKenzie Scott.
