“Time flies”: Mark Zuckerberg reveals the email ID he used to create his first Facebook account

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg reveals his first email ID, which he used to create his very first profile on Facebook. Zuckerberg made the revelation on Threads, a counterpart to Instagram, while replying to a funny post by a user.

The whole fuss started with a post by an artist: “I’m 19 years old.” To which the Facebook founder responded with “The real ones know. The first account was [email protected].”

It is common knowledge that Zuckerberg was the first to create an account on Facebook, but he was not the first to have an ID. According to the Guardian, three other IDs were apparently created on the platform for testing purposes before Zuckerberg’s ID.

The other three IDs were later deleted, making Zuckerberg the first person with a Facebook ID.

Chris Hughes and Dustin Moscovitz, both co-founders of Facebook, are the second and third people with a Facebook ID, respectively.

Soon, netizens started reacting to Zuckerberg’s reply with comments like “Time flies” and some started sharing their first email IDs.

“I’m pretty sure I took an adult education class at the local university so I could at least partially get a .edu account to fulfill this requirement. (Still the only college credit I have today.),” one user shared.

Another added: “I remember being a senior in high school and the thing I was most excited about was graduating so I could finally apply for a Facebook account using my college email address. That was all I cared about at the time.”

A third wrote, “So many people are going to test this email now.” A fourth wrote, “I started college in the fall of 2004. I remember when we had to switch Facebook from our .edu addresses to the accounts we have now! I think late 2005 or 2006 or something?”

Facebook was launched in February 2004, almost two decades ago, with the website name “thefacebook.com”.

In its early years, the platform was launched as an “information directory for college students.” Over time, several changes were made after the initial launch and over the years, Facebook evolved into one of the most used social networking sites in the world.

In addition to Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook was also co-founded by his fellow students at Harvard – Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz, Andrew McCollum and Chris Hughes.
