Republican politicians must stop demonizing immigrants

Re: Undocumented immigrants paid over $1.8 billion in taxes in 2022: So is this the same group of people that Governor DeSantis wants to outsource to other states and that former President Trump calls very bad people, drug dealers and criminals? “Nationwide, nearly $100 billion in federal, state and local taxes” was paid by this labor force. This country was built on the backs of black people and immigrants, and it is the duty of those in power and those who are afraid to stop demonizing these people. The people who come to this country are usually not well educated, but are persecuted in their country of origin or cannot make a living. They may have many talents and be willing to take the jobs that most of us consider “beneath their dignity.” But give these people a chance and they will educate themselves and their children, and improve their rank with each generation. Most of us are descendants of immigrants and not “bad people.”
