Clones are one of the most important Chosen One abilities in Black Myth: Wukong, but they’re pretty easy to miss if you don’t know where to look.
One of the first things that comes to mind when you think of the Monkey King is the ability to create clones. This is one of Sun Wukong’s main powers and, as luck would have it, you get to use it in all its glory in Black Myth: Wukong.
Although you get a taste of the ability in the opening battle, you’ll lose it by the end. Unlocking it takes a while and if you’re not sure what to do, we’ve got you covered.
How to unlock clones in Black Myth: Wukong
First, you need the ability toA pluck of many” to use clones in Black Myth: Wukong. Here’s how to unlock it.
Step 1: Head to Yellow Wind Ridge
Your first step is to unlock the Yellow Wind Ridge area. It’s a mountainous wasteland that you can unlock after defeating the final boss of Black Wind Mountain. If you don’t have too much trouble with bosses, you should get here in the first 3 hours of the game.
When you reach Yellow Wind Ridge, head to the village entrance shrine.
Step 2: Defeat the Royal Family of Flowing Sands
This is the first big boss in the area and it’s pretty easy. There are two enemies, a small rat that throws rocks at you and a big one that actually attacks you. Focus on the big one because it’s not worth killing the small one as it will only make the bigger rat even angrier.
Once you defeat the big rat, you’ll notice a small stone statue. Interact with it and it will tell you to look for the tiger’s sharpness. The headless monk you met at the very beginning will start singing about a tiger.
Step 3: Defeat the first Prince of Flowing Sands
After you’re done with the main boss, you’ll soon encounter a smaller boss. The boss is big, but fairly easy. Defeat him quickly and you’ll be done with the Flowing Sands family. Keep going as your quest to find a tiger continues.
Step 4: Reach the Crouching Tiger Temple
After exploring a little more, you will come across the Crouching Tiger Temple. There is a shrine nearby. Interact with it to refill your health, mana, and pumpkin. Go up the stairs and you will notice the Tiger Vanguard.
Step 5: Defeat the Tiger Vanguard
This boss is difficult as it is fast, has a variety of moves, and uses both its body and a huge sword. Depending on how good you are at dodging, it may take you several tries. However, once the Tiger Vanguard is defeated, you will notice another stone statue.
Interact with it and you will be prompted to find the Sterness of Stone.
Step 6: Defeat the Stone Vanguard
From the Crouching Tiger Temple, keep going forward and you will soon come across the Stone Vanguard. This is the third boss you need to defeat and it is an easy one. This boss is very slow and all you need to do is look for self-explanatory openings and smash it with your staff.
As long as you stay calm and don’t try to force it, you’ll defeat it in one or two tries. Defeating it will reward you with the Sterness of Stone.
Step 7: Reach the Windseal Gate
After defeating the Stone Vanguard, the game will point you to another shrine. Hit it and keep going. If you go straight, you’ll reach a meditation point. From this point, turn right, go straight, and drop down the sand slide.
Once you reach the bottom, you will come to the Windseal Gate.
Step 8: Obtain the spell “A Pluck of Many”
Once you reach the Windseal Gate, you will hear the Headless Monk singing again. This time he will send you a reward, namely the spell in question.
Immediately, your third spell slot will be unlocked and you can now create clones at any time. Remember that the clones use a lot of mana this early in the game and you can’t use them more than once, assuming you also use the Immobilize and Cloud Step spells.
Additionally, the clones cannot do much damage in the early game and mainly serve as a diversion.
