The in-progress biopic on former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh will chronicle his World Cup triumph, his battle with cancer and more

This is surely one of the most exciting stories out there. Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh will now tell his life story as he announces a biopic about his journey from cricket star to cancer patient and his battle with cancer that brought him to where he is today.

Yuvraj Singh has inspired millions of cricket fans and Indian studio T-Series promises to tell his story in a whole new way. The biopic chronicles the life and career of the Indian cricket icon who triumphed both off and on screen.

Yuvraj Singh’s life story is told in a biopic – from the World Cup to cancer

T-Series and animal Producer Ravi Bhagchandka come together to tell the life story of Yuvraj Singh. Ravi Bhagchandka will co-produce through 200 Not Out Cinema. The biopic will mark the second time Bhagchandka has brought the life of a cricketer to the screen, after the 2017 Sachin Tendulkar documentary Sachin: A Billion Dreams.

Yuvraj Singh’s life was nothing short of a dramatic movie when he made his debut in the Punjab U16 cricket team at the age of 13. At the 2000 U19 World Cup, which India won, Yuvraj Singh was the player of the tournament and was selected for the senior team. He quickly became known for his aggressive left-handed batting style and electrifying fielding.

His career reached new heights during India’s victorious T20 World Cup in 2007, when he hit six sixes in a single over against English bowler Stuart Broad.

We can expect the film to recreate the scene so that cricket fans can remember the iconic moment. Yuvraj Singh was also instrumental in India’s victory in the 2011 World Cup, where he was adjudged the Player of the Series.

It wasn’t always rosy for the cricketer. In 2011, he was diagnosed with cancer. He took a break, underwent treatment and returned to international cricket. His comeback in 2012 was nothing short of heroic.

He was also successful in the shorter formats of the game – the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament. In 2019, he announced his retirement from international cricket.

Yuvraj Singh on planned biopic

T-Series CEO Bhushan Kumar said, “Yuvraj Singh’s life is a compelling story of resilience, triumph and passion. His journey from promising cricketer to cricket hero and then to real-life hero is truly inspirational. I am delighted to bring to the screen a story that needs to be told and heard and to celebrate his extraordinary achievements.”

Yuvraj Singh added, “I am deeply honoured that Bhushan-ji and Ravi are bringing my story to millions of fans around the world. Cricket has been my greatest love and source of strength through all the ups and downs. I hope this film inspires others to overcome their own challenges and pursue their dreams with unwavering passion.”

The final decision on the direction and casting of the biopic is still pending.
